LAURENT MIQUEL
Languedoc, France
"Although winemaking is in my blood, becoming a winemaker was not a foregone conclusion when I was growing up. As a young man, I broadened my horizons and attended university near Paris, gaining an engineering degree. After a master’s degree in quality assurance from the University of Leeds, I worked in the automobile industry in England, far away from the family vineyards.
However, it was not long until the desire to invest in a personal project and to be closer to nature drew me back to my roots. This led me to study oenology in Montpellier. In 1996, inspired and encouraged by my father, I created my first vintage, more than two centuries after my forbearers!
If there is one thing that I have learned from my father, it is the passion and dedication that is needed to create exceptional wines. Wines that surprise and delight those who taste them for the first time. I hope to continue this journey for many years. My aim is to pass this same knowledge and passion on to my children, who, in turn, may create their own chapter of this long history.
Respect for the land has been passed down from father to son for eight generations. Our vineyards are cultivated using the philosophy of ‘sustainable agriculture’ to fully express the vines and the terroir. This cultivation yields great wines which bear my signature: delicacy, balance and minerality."
